BRING YOUR COLLECTION WITH YOU

Import Your Collection

Already tracking your bottles in a spreadsheet? Bring the whole shelf into Dram Diary in a couple of minutes — no retyping.

📥

THE IMPORT TEMPLATE

A ready-made Excel workbook with the right columns, dropdowns for type and size, three example rows, and a short set of instructions. Only Name is required — leave anything you don't know blank.

DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE (.XLSX) WORKS IN EXCEL, NUMBERS & GOOGLE SHEETS · .CSV ALSO ACCEPTED

How it works

1

GET YOUR SPREADSHEET READY

Download the template above, or use the sheet you already keep. We match your columns automatically — “Bottle”, “Brand”, “Price Paid” and friends are all recognized, and you can fix any mismatch before importing.

2

GET THE FILE ONTO YOUR IPHONE

AirDrop it from your Mac, save it to iCloud Drive / Files, or simply email it to yourself and save the attachment. Any .xlsx or .csv works.

3

IMPORT IN DRAM DIARY

Open the app, go to PROFILE → IMPORT COLLECTION, pick the file, review the matches we found, and tap import. Done — your shelf is in your pocket.

Column reference

These are the columns the template uses. Your own headers don't need to match exactly — the importer recognizes common synonyms and lets you map anything it can't guess.

Frequently Asked Questions

DO I HAVE TO USE YOUR TEMPLATE?
No. Any .xlsx or .csv file works. When you pick a file, Dram Diary reads your header row, guesses which column is which, and shows you the mapping so you can correct anything before a single bottle is imported. The template is just the quickest way to start from scratch.
WHAT HAPPENS TO BOTTLES YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE?
They're added to your collection immediately — nothing waits and no data is lost. Behind the scenes we create a catalog entry that's visible only to you until our team reviews it. Once reviewed it becomes part of the shared catalog (or gets merged into an existing entry), and your bottle simply follows along.
WILL THIS CREATE DUPLICATES?
We match every row against our catalog of 40,000+ bottles. Confident matches are linked automatically; close-but-not-certain matches are shown to you so you can confirm the right one or add the bottle as new. If anything slips through, our team merges it during review — your collection is re-pointed and nothing you entered is lost.
CAN I UNDO AN IMPORT?
Yes. Go to Profile → Import Collection → Recent imports and tap Undo next to the import. Every bottle created by that import is removed from your collection in one step. Bottles you added by hand are never touched.
IS IMPORT FREE?
Yes. Importing your collection is free for every Dram Diary account, with no bottle limit.
